Red Velvet Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa into a bowl.
  3. Cream oil and 1 1/2 cups sugar.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time.
  5. Beat well.
  6. Add food coloring.
  7. Combine buttermilk and baking soda.
  8. Mix well.
  9. Add to oil, sugar mixture, alternate with dry ingredients.
  10. Add vinegar and vanilla; mix well.
  11. Spoon into two greased 9-inch round pans.
  12. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Combine milk and remaining sugar in a saucepan.
  13. Bring to a boil. Spoon evenly on each layer before frosting.
