Rich Tomato Beef Sauce Served Over Pasta
- 1/2 c. onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 c. celery, diced
- 4 oz. mushrooms, sliced
- 2 large cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 1/4 lb. ground beef
- 2 tsp. oregano
- dash of basil
- dash of thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tsp. Italian seasonings
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 (20 oz.) can tomatoes
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1 c. beef stock
- 1/4 to 1/2 c. red wine
- Saute onions, celery, mushrooms and garlic in oil in large saucepan.
- Add beef and continue cooking until meat begins to brown.
- Drain excess fat.
- Add all other ingredients.
- Bring to a boil, stirring often.
- Reduce heat and simmer slowly 1 hour. Serve over favorite pasta.
