Rolaten (Meat Rolls)

  1. On each piece of meat, place a slice of onion, bacon and pickle.
  2. Sprinkle on salt and pepper.
  3. Roll up and secure with metal skewers or toothpicks.
  4. Melt 2 tablespoons shortening in Dutch oven.
  5. Brown meat rolls.
  6. Add water to cover and 3 bouillon cubes.
  7. Cook 1 1/2 to 2 hours until tender.
  8. Take out meat rolls. Put in 1 tablespoon Gravy Master.
  9. Bring to a boil.
  10. In a cup, mix up 3 tablespoons cornstarch and add enough water to form paste. Add to gravy.
  11. Boil until thick.
  12. Return meat rolls to gravy. Serve with noodles and vegetables.
  13. Serves 6.
