Cresha(Italian Cheese Bread)
- 6 c. flour
- 3 c. grated Italian cheese
- 7 eggs, large or jumbo
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
- 2 tsp. cracked pepper
- 1 large cake yeast
- 1 1/2 c. melted butter
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- Combine flour, cheese, salt, pepper and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl.
- Beat eggs and melted butter, then add to dry ingredients.
- Mix well.
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk and sugar. Then stir into egg mixture.
- Knead as for bread.
- Let rise until double in bulk.
- Make small or large loaves and let rise again. Bake at 325u0b0 for about 1 hour.
- If using small pans, a little less time is needed.
- Be sure it has a healthy tan crust.
- Enjoy with a meal or between meal snack.
- Delicious when toasted.
- This is always served for Easter.
