Grandma Turner'S Old Fashion Jam Cake*
- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1 c. cooked dried fruit
- 1 c. blackberry jam
- 1 c. raisins
- 2 whole eggs
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 c. chopped nuts (black walnuts are best!)
- Mix sugar and butter together.
- Add eggs, jam, fruit and buttermilk (roll raisins in some of the flour) and mix all spices, flour and raisins in batter.
- Stir well.
- Pour into 2 large pans, well-greased and floured.
- Bake slowly until well done in 350u0b0 oven.
- Cool in
- pans for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Frost with caramel icing.
- Best made ahead for about 3 to 5 days for moisture.
- Great frozen!
