Cinnamon Bars
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cinnamon chips
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans
- 2 large egg whites
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Beat butter with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, vanilla, and salt, beating well.
- Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup; level with a knife. Gradually add flour to butter mixture, beating just until moist. Press flour mixture into bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan. Sprinkle cinnamon chips and pecans over flour mixture.
- Beat egg whites with a mixer at high speed until foamy. Gradually beat in 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form. Spread egg white mixture over cinnamon chips and pecans. Bake at 350u0b0 for 20 to 22 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; cut into 16 bars.
