Sweet Sixteen Birthday Cake
- 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 egg yolks
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Yellow food coloring
- Cream butter in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg and yolks, mixing well.
- Combine flour and baking powder, stirring well. Gradually add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Stir in vanilla.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 325u0b0 for 55 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool cake in pan 10 minutes; invert onto cake platter, and cool completely.
- Place two-thirds of Fluffy Butter Frosting in a large mixing bowl; add yellow food coloring to tint to desired shade. Mix well. Frost top and sides of cake. Place remaining Fluffy Butter Frosting in pastry bag; attractively pipe frosting onto top and around edges of cake.
