All-American Burgers

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine egg and sour cream dip.
  2. Stir in bread crumbs, Heinz 57 sauce and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
  3. Add ground beef and mix well.
  4. Shape meat mixture into four 3/4-inch thick patties.
  5. Place patties on an unheated rack in a broiler pan.
  6. Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat to desired doneness, turning once (allow about 9 minutes total for medium).
  7. Or grill patties on an uncovered grill, directly over medium-hot coals to desired doneness, turning once (allow 6 to 8 minutes total for medium).
  8. Top burgers with cheese slices.
  9. Heat just until cheese melts.
  10. Serve each burger on a lettuce-lined bun with a tomato slice and onion slice and 2 bacon slices.
  11. Serve.
  12. Pass ketchup. Makes 4 servings.
