1925 Great Grandma Oven Barbecue
- 3 lb. boneless beef chuck
- 3 lb. pork loin, shredded (cut off fat)
- 1 large onion or 2 small, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 (14 oz.) bottle ketchup
- 2 Tbsp. fresh mustard
- 3 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 Tbsp. pickling spice
- 1 c. water or more
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
- hamburger buns
- sweet relish
- In covered roasting pan, place meat.
- Add onions, chopped. Bake for 1 hour.
- Mix rest of ingredients.
- Tie pickling spice into a square cheesecloth material.
- Tie and make a small ball.
- Pour all over meat, add water (cover).
- Bake 4 hours until cooked meat falls apart in 350u0b0 oven (if dry, add more water).
- Thicken with flour and water mixed into a paste.
- Remove small pickling bag. Shred meat.
- Serve on hamburger buns with sweet relish.
