Year Round Broccoli Casserole
- 3 Tbsp. sweet butter
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. cian pepper
- 1 c. warm milk
- 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 3 1/2 c. broccoli pieces, lightly steamed
- 2 1/3 c. pearl onions, parboiled
- 1/4 c. shredded sharp Cheddar
- 1/2 c. Progresso bread crumbs
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- For Sauce:
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter. Blend in flour, salt and cian pepper.
- Gradually add milk; simmer and stir until thick.
- Stir in cream cheese until smooth.
- In 1/2-quart casserole dish, place broccoli and pearl onions.
- Pour in sauce; mix lightly.
- Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese.
- Bake, covered, 15 minutes.
- Then cut remaining butter in hunks.
- Lay on top and sprinkle top with bread crumbs.
- Bake, uncovered, 15 minutes longer.
