Raleigh Tavern Oatmeal Cookies
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 cups quick-cooking oats, uncooked
- Cream shortening in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, molasses, and milk; beat well.
- Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves in a medium mixing bowl. Stir flour mixture into creamed mixture, stirring well. Add oats; stir well.
- Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350u0b0 for 15 minutes. Cool slightly on cookie sheets. Remove to wire racks to cool.
