Heavenly Cookie Bars
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 c. (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 c. self-rising flour
- 12 oz. (2 c.) milk chocolate chips
- 1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts (or use nut pieces for chunkiness)
- 12 Kraft caramels (Kraft, because I like them best!)
- Heat oven to 325u0b0.
- In a large bowl, beat brown sugar, sugar and margarine until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla and egg; beat well.
- Add flour; mix well.
- Cut 6 caramels into chip-size pieces. Add caramel chips, chocolate chips and nuts to mixture; stir. Spread dough into an 8 x 12-inch ungreased baking dish.
- Press remaining whole caramels into cookie dough.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Turn oven off and let stand until center of dough is done.
- Take out of oven, let cool for a few minutes and then cut into bars.
