Chocolate Pinwheels
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1 egg, unbeaten
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- 1 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
- Sift flour once; measure.
- Add baking powder and salt and sift again.
- Cream shortening; add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and milk and beat well.
- Add flour, small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition. Divide dough into 2 parts.
- To one part, add chocolate and blend. Roll each on floured wax paper into rectangular shape 1/8-inch thick.
- Lay plain sheet over chocolate sheet.
- Remove wax paper. Roll like jelly roll.
- Chill until firm.
- Cut into 1/8-inch slices. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375u0b0 for 10 minutes or until done.
