Homemade Mincemeat For Pies

  1. Cook beef in water to cover; save broth.
  2. Cool and grind meat like hamburger.
  3. Peel apples, core and slice or dice fine, or can be cooked and stirred like sauce.
  4. Mix meat, raisins, currants, sugar, cherries, apples, vinegar, spices and part of meat broth. Can always add more if too thick.
  5. Cook for several hours until thickened and not too runny.
  6. Add cider or wine (optional) or more broth.
