Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. margarine or butter, softened
- 3 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg yolk (reserve white)
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- Combine sugar, margarine, cream cheese, salt, almond extract, vanilla and egg yolk; blend well.
- Stir in flour until well blended.
- Refrigerate dough at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Heat oven to 375u0b0.
- Roll out on floured surface,
- using 1/3 of dough at a time, to 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut with floured cookie cutter.
- Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 7 to 10 minutes. Leave cookies plain or brush with egg white (slightly beaten) and sprinkle with colored sugar before cooking.
- Makes 5 to 6 dozen, depending on how big and thick cookies are.
