Spiced Raisin Chews
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 c. slivered almonds
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 (15 oz.) box raisins
- 1/4 c. chopped apple
- 2 c. packed brown sugar
- In large bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, soda, salt and pepper until blended.
- Finely chop raisins, almonds and apple.
- Add to flour mixture and mix well (with hands is easiest).
- In large bowl, beat eggs and brown sugar until thick and pale.
- Stir into flour mixture and mix well.
- Chill 1 hour.
- Heat oven to 350u0b0.
- Lightly grease cookie sheets.
- Form into 1-inch balls.
- Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Let cool on sheet 1 minute before removing.
