Onion Bacon Bread
- 3/4 c. finely chopped onion
- 1/2 c. diced bacon
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 c. warm milk
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 4 to 4 1/2 c. sifted flour
- Combine onion,
- bacon
- and
- garlic in skillet and saute until golden.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add milk, sugar, salt and 2
- cups
- flour.
- Beat
- until
- well blended.
- Stir in undrained onion,
- bacon
- and
- garlic.
- Add
- enough additional flour to make soft
- dough.
- Knead
- well
- and let rise in warm place until doubled.
- Punch
- down and shape into loaf.
- Place in greased 9
- x 5-inch
- loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise about 1 hour or until doubled in bulk.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for 45 minutes or until done. Makes one 9-inch loaf.
