Spicy Chocolate Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Lightly grease cookie sheets with butter.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter with the black pepper, cinnamon, cloves and sugar.
  4. Beat in the egg and the vanilla.
  5. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa. Add the sifted ingredients, 1/2 cup at a time, to the batter, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls.
  7. Place them 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets. Dip the bottom of a glass into confectioners sugar, then use it to flatten the balls to a thickness of 1/4 inch.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are lightly browned.
