Aunt Florie'S Bran Muffins

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar together. Beat in the eggs.
  3. Sift the flour, soda and salt together.
  4. Stir in the bran flakes and the raisins.
  5. Soak the 100% bran in the cup of boiling water for 1 to 2 minutes, then add to the creamed mixture.
  6. Stir in the buttermilk, then the flour and raisin mixture.
  7. Mix thoroughly, then store in the refrigerator in a covered container.
  8. (This mixture will keep 1 to 3 weeks, refrigerated.)
  9. As needed, fill greased pans about 2/3 full.
  10. Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
