Old-Fashioned Vegetable Soup

  1. Combine all ingredients except frozen vegetables and macaroni in a large Dutch oven.
  2. Bring to boil; cover.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
  4. Add frozen vegetables and return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
  5. Stir in macaroni and continue to cook for 10 to 12 minutes.
  6. Remove bay leaf.
  7. Makes 3 1/2 quarts.
