Jenna'S Favorite Homemade Graham Crackers
- 4 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 c. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. hot water (approximate)
- unbleached white flour
- Place whole wheat flour in bowl.
- Cut in butter until mixture is the consistency of coarse oatmeal.
- Add sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar, egg and enough hot water to make a dough that can be rolled like pastry.
- Roll out dough to 1/8 to 1/4-inch consistency on floured board (use unbleached white flour for rolling).
- Cut into 3-inch squares.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet in a 350u0b0 preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until done.
- Cool on rack.
- Yields about 2 dozen crackers.
- Great served while warm.
