The Easy French Toast Recipe You Should Master Before Getting All Fancy
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Butter
- 4 slices bread (white, brioche, challah, sourdough, cinnamon raisin, or King's Hawaiian)
- Powdered sugar, a lot of it
- Syrup
- In a smallish bowl, beat the eggs with milk.
- In a frying pan on medium heat, melt a little butter but be careful not to burn it-that'll make Paula Deen mad, y'all!
- Dip each slice of bread into the bowl and swoosh it around to ensure it soaks up the egg mixture. Raise the slice with a fork, let excess mixture drip into the bowl and fry that bad boy in the hot pan. Do this with every slice, unless you enjoy soggy-raw-egg bread. And in that case, you're weird.
- Flip each slice when the bread is slightly brown.
- Build a stack of French toast goodness with the cooked slices. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and "accidentally" spill a whole bottle of maple syrup over this masterpiece.
