Tomato Sauce
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/2 c. onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 16 oz. can tomatoes
- 1 1/3 c. water
- 8 oz. can tomato sauce
- 1/4 c. dry white wine
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. basil leaves
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. parsley, chopped
- few grains pepper
- Melt butter in saucepan over low-medium heat.
- Add onion and garlic.
- Cook until tender.
- Blend in flour.
- Cook 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until light browned.
- Add tomatoes, water, tomato sauce, wine, bouillon cube, sugar, oregano, basil, salt and pepper.
- Cover and cook on low about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in parsley.
- Use for meat, chicken dishes, eggplant, etc.
