Cereal And Toffee Dessert Bars
- 4 (1.4-ounce) bars chocolate-covered English toffee candy bars, crushed
- 8 cups vanilla light ice cream, softened
- 4 cups crispy rice cereal squares, coarsely crushed
- 2 cups whole-grain toasted oat cereal
- 2/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/3 cup slivered almonds, toasted
- 1/3 cup flaked sweetened coconut, toasted
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Cooking spray
- Stir crushed candy into ice cream in a large bowl. Cover and freeze until ready to use.
- Combine rice cereal squares and next 5 ingredients in a large bowl, stirring until well blended. Press 3 1/2 cups cereal mixture in bottom of a 13 x 9inch metal baking pan coated with cooking spray.
- Spread softened ice-cream mixture over cereal mixture; top evenly with remaining cereal mixture. Cover and freeze 8 hours or until firm. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting into bars.
- Young Chefs can:
- Sprinkle crushed candy into ice cream
- Combine measured cereals
- Older Chefs can:
- Press cereal mixture into pan
- Spread ice-cream mixture over cereal mixture
