Crab Strata
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. broad noodles
- 1 (6 1/2 oz.) can crabmeat, boned
- 1 c. cottage cheese
- 1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 6 Tbsp. flour
- 2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. minced chives
- 1/3 c. toasted slivered almonds
- Cook noodles as directed on package.
- Drain.
- Place a layer of noodles in a buttered 2-quart casserole.
- Add a layer of crabmeat, then a layer of cottage cheese and half of the mushrooms.
- Melt butter in saucepan.
- Add flour to make a paste.
- Remove from heat and add milk and salt, stirring to blend.
- Cook until smooth and thickened; stir in chives.
- Pour half of sauce over casserole. Repeat layers, ending with sauce.
- Sprinkle with toasted almonds. Bake 35 to 40 minutes.
