Pecan Hermits
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup raisins, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- Combine shortening, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a large mixing bowl, beating well. Add eggs and milk; beat until well blended.
- Sift together flour, soda, and salt in a small mixing bowl. Add to sugar mixture, stirring well. Fold in raisins and pecans.
- Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets; flatten each cookie slightly using the back of a spoon. Bake at 350u0b0 for 12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets, and cool on wire racks.
