Chocolate Filled Bonbons
- 3/4 c. Crisco
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 3/4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. chopped almonds or pecans (optional)
- 3 to 4 doz. chocolate kisses
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Cream Crisco and sugars with electric mixer until fluffy.
- Add egg and extract and beat well.
- Add flour, baking powder, salt and nuts (optional).
- Mix until blended.
- Shape into 1-inch balls.
- Press each ball around a kiss (like chocolate covered cherry).
- Bake 12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet. (Do not overbake.)
- Cool on wire racks.
- Frost or decorate as desired.
- Yields 3 1/2 to 4 dozen cookies.
