Beefy Beef Stew

  1. Cook bacon in 4-quart pot, stirring occasionally until cooked. Remove from pot.
  2. Add beef and brown.
  3. Add 2 cups of water, salt, thyme, marjoram and pepper.
  4. Bring to boil; reduce heat.
  5. Cover and simmer until beef is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
  6. Stir in onions, carrots and potatoes.
  7. Bring to boil; reduce heat cover and simmer 1/2 hour.
  8. Mix 1/2 cup cold water and flour; gradually stir into stew.
  9. Stir in browning sauce.
  10. Bring to boil, stirring constantly for 1 minute.
  11. Sprinkle with parsley and bacon.
