Apple Cobbler
- 4 c. peeled, sliced baking apples
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 c.flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2/3 c.milk
- 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
- Place apples in a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
- Sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and almond extract.
- Dot with 2 tablespoons butter.
- Mix flour, baking powder, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar and salt into a mixing bowl. Cut in 1/4 cup butter until the mixture is slightly coarser than cornmeal.
- Combine egg and milk, pour over the dry ingredients, stir just enough to combine and spoon it over the apples in the baking dish.
