Peppernuts

  1. Beat together eggs, sugar and shortening in large bowl at high speed until creamy, about 3 minutes.
  2. Turn mixer to low speed. Sift all dry ingredients, except soda, together.
  3. Add gradually to creamed mixture alternately with sour milk to which soda has been added.
  4. Increase to medium speed 1 to 2 minutes when mixture becomes stiffer.
  5. If possible, allow dough to stand in cool place to stiffen before rolling and cutting.
  6. May decorate with sugars or raisins.
  7. Bake at 350u0b0 for 12 to 15 minutes on greased cookie sheets.
