Bourbon-Glazed Ham
- 1 (7- to 8-pound) fully cooked butt portion ham
- 1 cup bourbon
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 25 whole cloves
- Place ham in a shallow baking pan, fat side up. Bake, uncovered, at 325u0b0 for 1 1/2 hours.
- Combine bourbon, sugar, orange rind, and ground cloves in a small mixing bowl, stirring well; let stand 30 minutes, stirring frequently to dissolve sugar.
- Remove outer layer of skin from ham. Score fat in a diamond pattern, and stud with whole cloves.
- Baste ham with bourbon mixture. Return ham to oven, and bake, uncovered, at 350u0b0 for 1 hour, basting frequently with bourbon mixture.
- Transfer ham to a serving platter; cool slightly before slicing.
- Note: Cover and store leftover ham in refrigerator.
