Chewy Homemade Breadsticks(Appetizer)

  1. In a large mixer bowl, sprinkle yeast over the 1/4 cup water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in salad oil, sugar, salt, milk and 2 cups flour.
  3. Beat on medium speed for 5 minutes or until dough pulls from side of bowl in stretchy strands.
  4. Stir in more flour (about 1 cup) to form a stiff dough.
  5. Turn onto a lightly floured board.
  6. Knead for 10 minutes or until smooth.
  7. Turn dough over into a lightly greased bowl.
  8. Cover with plastic wrap.
  9. Let rise in warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
  10. Turn dough out onto board. Knead to expel trapped air.
  11. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
  12. Cover and let rest for 5 minutes.
