Fried Apple Spirals

  1. Place oil in a large, wide Dutch oven or saucepan, and heat to 375u0b0F.

  3. , peel, core, and cut each apple in a spiral to make an apple "Slinky." Carefully thread 1 skewer at a slight angle through length of apple spiral. Gently spread apple to equal length of skewer, being careful not to break apple. Apple should be spread apart but still hold its spiral shape on the skewer.
  4. Whisk egg white in a large bowl until foamy and soft peaks form. Slowly stir in club soda. Add flour, salt, and apple pie spice, stirring gently to combine. Place 1 threaded apple skewer in batter, rotating and spooning batter over apple to cover. Let excess drip off.
  5. Cook apple skewer in hot oil until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes, rotating occasionally to brown evenly. Remove from oil. Repeat with remaining apples and batter.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar, and serve immediately.
