Fruit Slice

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
  3. Beat in chocolate.
  4. Add sifted dry ingredients in thirds, alternately with the milk and flavoring, beating until smooth after each addition. Stir in nuts.
  5. Using 2 buttered jelly roll pans, spoon batter in 4 rows, the length of the pans (2 rows in each pan).
  6. Arrange batter together in nice even strips, about 2-inches wide.
  7. Beat egg white with fork and brush some over each row, being careful not to spill over onto pan.
  8. Sprinkle some sugar lightly over top.
  9. Bake in 375u0b0 oven for 20 minutes.
  10. Frost if you wish.
  11. Cut in diagonal slices.
  12. Makes about 36 slices.
