Lorene'S Pinto Chili Beans
- 1 lb. dry pinto beans
- 2 medium onions, chopped and cooked
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 can tomato soup
- 2 lb. hamburger, cooked and drained
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
- 4 Tbsp. Texas Pete (hot)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- Cook pinto beans slow, keeping whole.
- Do not stir too much. Set aside.
- Cook hamburger.
- Set aside.
- Cook onions.
- Combine tomato sauce, soup mix, chili powder, Texas Pete, salt, sugar, pepper and hamburger.
- Cook on low heat.
- Pour off bean water all but 1 cup and save to use if the mixture is too dry.
- Pour all of the other ingredients into the bean pot and stir easy.
- Cook on low for 1/2 hour.
- This makes enough for at least 8 people.
- My husband says it's the best he ever ate.
