Not Your Dads Manhattan

  1. Stir ingredients over ice until chilled, about 30 seconds.
  2. Strain over 2 cubes of ice into a chilled coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with bourbon soaked cherry.
  4. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, whisk together the water, apple cider vinegar, vanilla extract and honey until combined.
  5. Add in the cinnamon strip and orange peel. Continue heating, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reaches a simmer.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low, and continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat, discard the cinnamon stick and orange peel. Slowly add the bourbon to the pan, stir to combine.
  8. Pour the bourbon mixture over the cherries in jars, then let the mixture cool completely to room temperature.
  9. Secure the lids on the mason jars, give them a shake, and refrigerate for at least 3 days before using. The recipe should last for up to 2 months.
