Deceptively Simple Spicy Dark Chocolate Fudge
- 14 ounces (1 can) sweetened condensed milk
- 4 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 12 ounces dark chocolate, chopped or pieces
- 3/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped (or to your preference)
- 2 teaspoons ancho chili powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 1/2 teaspoons instant espresso powder
- scant 3/4 teaspoons ground cayenne
- In a large saucepan, slowly bring condensed milk, butter, and sugar to a simmer, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Mix in the chocolate until completely combined. Stir in walnuts and spices. Taste and adjust.
- Spread evenly into the pan and set in the fridge to cool. (I lightly greased my pan, but I'm not sure if that's necessary.) Once cooled, cut into desired size pieces and store in an airtight container.
