German Apfel Torte
- Crust
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- cooking spray

- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 350* F. Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the rest of the crust ingredients, and mix just until the dough is combined and crumbly, but holds together. rnLightly coat tart pan with cooking spray. Press dough onto bottom and up the sides of the pan. Set aside..
- Peel, half and core apples. Slice each half, vertically, into 1/8 inch slices, keeping the apple shape together. Fan apples over crust, starting on outside edge, and ending in the center, slightly overlapping.rnCombine cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle liberally over apples. rnBake in 350* oven for about 30 minutes, or until crust is golden brown.
