Swirl Cobbler Pie

  1. Heat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Melt butter in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish or sheet cake pan.
  3. In a saucepan, heat sugar and liquid until sugar melts.
  4. Cut shortening into flour until particles are like fine crumbs. Add milk and stir with a fork only until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn out onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth.
  5. Knead until smooth.
  6. Roll dough out into a large rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. Sprinkle fruit evenly over dough. Roll up like a jelly roll. Dampen the edge with water and seal. Slice into 1/2-inch slices.
  7. Place in pan with melted butter and pour sugar syrup over rolls. Bake for 1 hour.
  8. (Any type fruit or berries may be used.)
