Swedish Apple Dumplings

  1. Peel and core apples.
  2. Sift flour with 4 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt.
  3. Cut in shortening.
  4. Add milk.
  5. Stir with fork to make soft dough.
  6. Roll out on floured board. Cut dough into 6 squares about 4 inches.
  7. Roll thin.
  8. Put apple in center of each square.
  9. Pour sugar in the core of each apple.
  10. Fold dough up over apple.
  11. Pinch edges together.
  12. Place in baking pan.
  13. Bring water, cinnamon, sugar and butter to a boil.
  14. Pour over the dumplings. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes in oven at 400 then for 30 minutes at 300.
