Swedish Apple Dumplings
- 6 apples
- 2 Cups flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 Cup shortening
- 2/3 Cup- 3/4 Cup milk
- 1 tsp. sugar
- dash of cinnamon
- 1 1/2 Cup sugar
- 1/4 lb. butter
- Peel and core apples.
- Sift flour with 4 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add milk.
- Stir with fork to make soft dough.
- Roll out on floured board. Cut dough into 6 squares about 4 inches.
- Roll thin.
- Put apple in center of each square.
- Pour sugar in the core of each apple.
- Fold dough up over apple.
- Pinch edges together.
- Place in baking pan.
- Bring water, cinnamon, sugar and butter to a boil.
- Pour over the dumplings. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes in oven at 400 then for 30 minutes at 300.
