Chocolate Cake
- 4 sq. unsweetened chocolate or 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. black coffee
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sour milk or 1/2 c. sweet milk with 1/2 tsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- Heat chocolate or cocoa, butter and black coffee together in medium to large saucepan.
- Remove from fire.
- Dump in sugar and stir until smooth.
- Add flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
- Add sour milk or sweet milk with vinegar added and vanilla.
- Stir in eggs, one at a time, until thoroughly mixed.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 25 to 28 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 5 to 10 minutes before removing from pans.
- Frost as desired.
- Makes three 8-inch or two 9-inch layers or 1 large sheet cake.
