Chili Con Carne A La Antigua(Guatemala)

  1. In a stew pot, saut the garlic and onion in the oil until soft.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until well done.
  3. Drain the oil from the pot and add the canned tomatoes, water, fresh tomatoes, green chile, spices, and red beans.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer over low heat for 2 1/2 -3 hours.
  5. Serve in soup bowls and top with the grated cheese.
  6. Serve with garlic bread.
