Bloodhound
- spiced blood orange syrup
- 2 cups blood orange juice, strained
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 10 pods green cardamom, lightly crusshed with the back of a knife
- 5 peppercorns
- juice of one lime
- assembling the cocktail
- 1.5 ounces gin
- 3 tablespoons spiced blood orange syrup
- soda water
- twist of blood orange, optional
- Combine ingredients in a heavy-bottomed saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
- Let the mixture boil until reduced by half, about 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool before straining into a jar or other storage vessel.
- Add several ice cubes to a highball glass. Pour in gin and syrup and mix well. Top with another part (or half part) soda water and a twist.
