Italian Sausage And Pasta Bake
- 8 oz. ziti or spiral pasta
- 1 lb. Italian sausage (I used Bob Evans hot and zesty sausage)
- 1 large onion, coarsely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 each large red and green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
- 1 (14 1/2 oz.) can diced Italian-style tomatoes (undrained)
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1/4 c. chopped fresh or 2 tsp. dried basil
- 2 c. (8 oz.) Sargento Italian blend shredded cheese
- Cook pasta according to package directions; drain. Cut sausage into 1/2-inch pieces; discard casings. Cook sausage in skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain. Add onion, garlic and bell peppers; continue to cook until sausage is cooked through and vegetables are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Add tomatoes and tomato paste; mix well. Stir in pasta and basil. Transfer to 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Cover with foil. Bake at 375u0b0 for 20 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle cheese evenly over casserole. Continue to bake 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
