Irish Bread(A Gaelic Blessing)

  1. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and soda.
  2. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add beaten egg and buttermilk; blend well.
  4. Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients.
  5. Mix by hand only until dry ingredients are well moistened.
  6. Fold in raisins and caraway seed.
  7. Pour into Crisco floured 1 1/2-quart pan or 1 1/2-quart glass casserole.
  8. Brush top with melted butter and sprinkle with a little sugar.
  9. Bake at 375u0b0 for 30 minutes. Reduce to 325u0b0.
  10. Bake for 30 minutes in 13 x 4 x 3-inch pan.
