Grandma'S Crumb Cake

  1. Cook box of raisins until plump.
  2. Use just enough water to almost cover the raisins in a small pan.
  3. Let cool.
  4. Rub together brown sugar, white sugar and Crisco (save out about 1 cup of mixture for topping).
  5. Beat until foamy 2 cups buttermilk (or sour milk) with 2 teaspoons of baking soda.
  6. Add flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg (and others if desired).
  7. Add sugar mixture to flour with milk.
  8. Stir well.
  9. Add raisins.
  10. Mix well.
  11. Pour into 1 large and 1 small greased and floured pans.
  12. Add sugar topping. Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
