Mama'S Patty Stew
- 1/2 to 1 lb. ground beef
- egg
- small amount dry milk powder
- 1/4 c. cracker crumbs or dry oatmeal
- salt and pepper
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 4 or 5 carrots, cut in chunks
- 2 or 3 stalks celery, cut in chunks
- diced onion
- generous dab of fresh or diced parsley
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup (I prefer cream of celery)
- liquid from small can mushrooms
- small can mushrooms, stems and pieces
- potato, quartered
- Mix ground beef with egg, dry milk powder, cracker crumbs or oatmeal and salt and pepper.
- (This is the way people cooked in mama's day.)
- Brown patties, pour off drippings and turn heat down to simmer.
- Add couple tablespoons of water, carrots, celery, diced onion and parsley.
- Let simmer for 30 minutes, covered.
