- Judges 5:25 (1/2 c. butter)
- Jeremiah 6:20 (1 c. sugar)
- Isaiah 10:14 (3 eggs, separated)
- Exodus 16:31 (1 Tbsp. honey)
- 1 Kings 4:22 (2 c. sifted flour)
- Leviticus 2:13 (1/2 tsp. salt)
- 1 Corinthians 5:6 (2 tsp. baking powder)
- Judges 4:19 (1 c. milk)
- 1 Kings 10:10 (3/4 tsp. powdered cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. ground cloves, 1/4 tsp. allspice, 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg)
- Genesis 43:11 (1/2 c. chopped nuts)
- 1 Samuel 30:12 (1/2 c. chopped dried figs, 1/2 c. chopped seedless raisins and 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring, optional)
- Cream butter.
- Gradually add sugar and beat in until light. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Beat in honey.
- Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk and beat only until smooth.
- (If butter flavor is used, add to milk.) Stir in nuts and fruits.
- Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in. Pour into loaf pan (9 x 3-inch) lined with wax paper.
- Bake in preheated oven at 350u0b0 for 1 hour or until done.
- Cool cake in the pan for 5 minutes.
- Turn cake out on a rack and gently peel off paper.
- Serve plain or frosted.
