Grandma’S Last Apple Cake
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil, garlic flavoring optional
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- a pile of crisp cooking apples, peeled, cored, and sliced not too thin
- 1 chicken drumstick, to munch while cooking
- Preheat oven to 350
- Grease and flour an 8" square pan
- Mix together the dry ingredients in a bowl
- Mix together the wet ingredients in another bowl
- Just barely mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients
- Mix in as many apples as the batter can hold (~4-6 apples)
- (Optional) at some point drop the well-cleaned chicken bone into the batter by accident
- Scrape/pour batter into prepared pan and bake ~20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
