Texas Casserole
- 2 1/2 lb. ground beef (less if desired)
- 1 tsp. garlic juice
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 2 small cans tomato sauce
- 4 green onions, chopped (including tops)
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. egg noodles, cooked according to pkg. directions
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
- 1 (16 oz.) carton sour cream
- 1 can mushroom soup
- 1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
- Brown meat; pour off fat.
- Add garlic juice and butter.
- Saute 20 minutes.
- Add tomato sauce and sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 15 minutes.
- Combine cream cheese, sour cream and chopped onions.
- While noodles are cooking according to package directions, alternate layers of noodles, meat mixture and cheese mixture in a 3-quart dish.
- Repeat twice.
- Top with mushroom soup.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Add grated cheese during the last 5 minutes of cooking time.
